Corazón Salvaje (Wild at Heart) is the romantic crime road movie that Lynch himself described as his own version of El Mago de OZ (The Wizard of Oz).

Nicolas Cage plays Sailor, a convict who, during a prison furlough, takes off with his girlfriend Lula (the incredible Laura Dern) and heads to California. But Lula’s mother disapproves of the relationship, so she hires a mobster —an almost unrecognizable Willem Dafoe— to take Sailor out.

It’s a cocktail of noir, a criminal thriller, and a whole lot of sex appeal. Like Romeo and Juliet born in the American South, dressed in leather, and driving down the yellow brick road to Oz in a convertible.

This is an over-the-top journey filled with neon-lit motels, absurd violence, wild sex, and characters that make you wonder if Lynch has ever had a normal dream. And The Wizard of Oz references are everywhere.
